Managed by the Parks & Recreation Department, this unique open-air venue in Franke Park was a gift to the community from Helene Foellinger in 1949. Molded into a grassy hillside adjacent to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Foellinger Theatre currently seats 2,751 fans. While many historic central city theatres fell victim to the rise of television, Foellinger thrived, thanks in part to a 1970s renovation that added the iconic open-sided dome. It remains a "Living Memorial" to the Foellinger family’s legacy, offering everything from youth orchestras to national touring acts in an atmosphere that is truly "informal and open-air."
